Exercise and Fitness
Exercise is a must in developing your health. For those of us who struggle with doing any sort of sport or vigorous activity the good news is that you don't necessarily have to. Because man is essentially a predator, our bodies have evolved to hunt and gather food and then spend our time lounging about as much as possible to reduce calorie consumption.
In modern life our food gathering has become much less vigorous, and our leisure time much more passive as well. Therefore, we have to do something in order to offset this change in habit.
We should eat less high calorie foods such as refined starch and sugars, saturated fats and processed products. We should also increase our energy output by taking part in sustained activity for at least 30 - 60 minutes three to five times per week.
Role Of Exercise
Including exercise in you daily life is the most efficient way to control body fat composition, muscle tone, joint health, mental health and cardiovascular health. It is a free panacea for many people.
The key thing to do is sart doing something. Start slow and keep safe. Do something that you can enjoy or have a goal that motivates you to keep at it. Organise family or friends to join in if you need the social support.
A simple suggestion to get at least 30 minutes, 5 times per week, is to get to work 15 minutes earlier; park the car and walk around the block for 15 minutes before walking inside. Leave work and walk the same time back to the car. Job done! However you will need to do more as you get fitter.
Exercise can be a double edged sword. Participating in any form of activity runs the risk of injury. Of course the nature of sports which have a competitive structure, and those with aggressive contact between players are more prone than others at causing injury.
Some injuries are due to sprains, strains, tears and fractures. With proper medically care the traumatic injury can generally be repaired. What can be overlooked by many people is the need to have ongoing care and rehabilitation to manage the long term effects of the injury.
Chiropractic adjustments are a good choice to assist the body's self repair mechanism. When combined with physiotherapy, exercises and nutrition, the best possible outcome should be achieved.
An important aspect of repair is re-establishing the neurological integrity of supporting ligaments and co-ordination of muscle groups.
